Food For Thought

I’m going to start this post with a Giveaway plug hosted by my dear friends over at The Vegetable Centric Kitchen.  Rande, head blogger and chefstress, wants to help everyone start their 2012 off right with a fun little giveaway.  What do you win?  Oh, you know, only this totally delicious Autumn Dessert Spice by Frank Giglio and a copy of Rande’s first eBook 31 Days of Sugar Free Desserts!  So head on over for your chance to win!

Now on with the photos.

Since it is New Year’s Eve and I started this post with a little ditty about The Vegetable Centric Kitchen, I thought it would be a great idea to do a 2011 favorites list of the photos I have shot for the Vegetable Centric Kitchen.  Yes, an entire post of food photos…  They will make you drool.

All of the photos link to the recipe and I can honestly say that they are all delicious.  I may or may not be an unofficial taste tester for the Vegetable Centric Kitchen…

I hope everyone’s New Year’s Eve is a can of awesome-sauce!  Everyone be safe and bring in 2012 with lots of fun, love and happiness.

Throwback Thursday

It’s December, the time of giving, holiday cheer and COLD FEET!  As much as I love snow on Christmas, I could really do without the long months of chilly temperatures.

With that said here is a group of photos with sun and water… my idea of paradise, a place that’s not too hot but not too cold.  With stunning scenery to boot!

So, throw on some slipper socks, grab a cup of hot coco, turn on this throwback Christmas jam and dream of warmer weather and sunshine!

This series was also shot in May 2011.  The photos are of the very beautiful La Push Beach (any Twilight fans?) on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington.  Don’t let the photos fool you, it is still quite chilly here in early May.

Hope you are all keeping warm!

The Fright Attendant

Don’t let her sweet looks fool you, under that angel face is a vegetable loving, hairless cat owning, flight attending blogger! :gasp:  The horror!!

Le sigh… I am misleading my blog readers now.  She really is as sweet as she looks.  If you haven’t guessed, this is my roommate and Dr. Britney‘s other half, Rande.

Rande is the very talented chef over at the Vegetable Centric Kitchen.  Clicking on that link will bring you to lots of tasty recipes and you may even find a photo or two of that hairless cat I was talking about.

Throwback Thursday

I thought a good way to re-post the photos that were posted but then taken down would be to post a group once a week.  That way we can mix the old with the new and I can have a catchy titled weekly post like everyone else.

With that said… Welcome to Throwback Thursday!!  Turn on this ridiculously awesome throwback jam and look around.

1. Throwback:  something reminiscent of the past

These photos were taken in May 2011 at the Skagit Tulip Festival.  It is absolutely beautiful and you will be surprised how many different kinds of tulips there are.

Now that we have finished our trip back in time, why don’t we see what the future holds…

Click here to see a sneak peek of Saturday’s post.
Hint:  It involves my vegetable loving roommate!

Dr. Britney

Everyone say “Hi, Britney”

Who’s Britney you might ask.  Well, Britney is a very dear friend of mine that allows me to photograph her when I ask really nicely and make her cookies.  She is my roommate’s lady friend and was up here spending the holiday weekend with us.

Britney has got to be one of the sweetest and most patient people in the world.  Not only does she allow me to invade any and all personal space with my camera, she is also a very willing taste testing participate for her girlfriend’s food blog.  Which you should go check out… NOW.

The next few posts will most likely be portraits of random people in (or out) of my life.  I have always felt my portrait photos are lacking and am trying to increase my skill and become more comfortable with portrait photography.  There may be some growing pains involved.

This session taught me I really suck at putting make up on people, actually this is something I have always known but thought maybe it would have changed with age.  On a positive note, I think I have a better handle on lighting… but that may not be saying much seeing as I knew nothing of lighting techniques previously.

Trails

As I said in my earlier post, this blog is getting a little make over. So, while I will be posting new photos (like this one here), I will also be posting some older ones.

Like these favorites…

The photos were taken in the Spring of 2010, not long after I moved out here.  They are of some of the Chuckanut Drive trails.  It is a very beautiful hiking spot and pretty popular.  If you live in the area and have never been, I suggest you check it out!

Please Excuse the Nothingness

I am going to be taking the time to re-do a few things and give this blog a bit of a face lift.  Please excuse the nothingness, it will hopefully be gone soon.

This is a photo of Birch Bay, WA.  It’s a small town about 20 minutes north of where I live.  I almost wanted to name the photo Baby_Jesus.jpg because I can just see some ridiculous religious saying written across it.  May God be with you….
